Part of the University of Surrey at Guildford, Surrey Business School (SBS) is one of the world’s leading centres of excellence for business, management and marketing teaching and study. It’s ranked second in the UK in The Guardian University Guide 2017, and offers practical, academically rigorous courses that have earned it an international reputation.
The School’s flagship offering is its MBA programme, which attracts students from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds. Available as a one-year full-time or 20-month part-time course, it’s aimed at high-calibre graduates and professionals looking to build an international business career, or start their own enterprise.
For the last few years, our founder and MD, Sam Farrow, has been a mentor on the Surrey MBA programme, applying her real-world business experience to support and advise students throughout their study. We’re also one of the School’s preferred suppliers, and have designed a range of brochures and other materials.
This year, the School has invested in a new band identity, and we were delighted to be the first agency selected to apply it to new marketing collateral. Our brief was to design a brochure as part of a recruitment campaign, intended to build the MBA programme’s reputation locally and internationally.
As well as conforming to the new brand style, our design had to reflect the prestigious nature of the course (which costs £24,000) and the audience profile: mature, professional and highly educated, with a significant proportion of non-native English speakers. This led us to make extensive use of infographics, allowing us to explain the course structure and other important information in easily-accessible, unambiguous and creative ways.
