The Fuji America was an early touring bike (late 70s to early 80s) built before a lot of the more comfortable touring amenities we all look for became common on touring bikes.

Touring - 1995 Specialized Hardrock as a touring bike build? - A pawn shop find a couple of weeks back: a vintage Specialized Hardrock scarcely ridden at all since originally purchased. Turns out this was the base model for the 1995 model year (MSRP:$429, equivalent to $690 today). Pawn shop cost was $100, not a steal

Touring - How upright for touring? - My idea of bike touring is riding a bike through an area of interest to see it, while being dependent on the bike for transportation throughout multiple days.

Description: Eagle Lake is a moderate-sized impoundment within the Mazonia complex, covering 34.1 surface acres with depths to 50 feet. It is isolated from all other water areas.
Fishery History The fish population in Lake Decatur is intensively surveyed every 2 years. The fish are measured, weighed, and scales collected before releasing them alive. Hybrid Striped Bass and Walleye populations are surveyed annually and are maintained by annual stockings through IDNR hatcheries.
Kinkaid Lake is 2750 acres in size, has a shoreline length of 82 miles, and a maximum depth of 80 feet. Kinkaid Lake receives a tremendous amount of recreational boat traffic during the hot summer months especially on the weekends and holidays. To avoid the crowd, anglers may consider fishing early in the morning and/or during the week.
Description Lake Vermilion is a water supply lake owned by Aqua Illinois Inc., which has leased the surface rights to the Vermilion County Conservation District (VCCD) to make the lake available to the public for boating and fishing. Lake Vermilion has a maximum depth of 30 feet and an average depth of 12 feet.
This lake's bass population is trending toward being a stunted population. Anglers are encouraged to keep their daily limit of 5 largemouth bass under 14 inches to help thin out the smaller largemouth bass at Cedar Lake.
The lake was formed by constructing a 2-mile-long dam across the Big Muddy River floodplain. At normal pool, Rend Lake has a surface area of 20,633 acres, a maximum depth of 35 feet, and a mean depth of 10 feet. The lake is 13 miles long and 3 miles wide and has 162 miles of shoreline. It is the second largest impoundment in Illinois.
